Jens Risom Teak Occasional Chair. 1960s. Light Steel Blue Upholstery
Jens Risom was pivotal to the success of Danish design in the mid-20th century. A classmate of Børge Mogensen and Hans Wegner at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, he brought his mastery of fine timbers to the United States in 1939. In 1941, he met Hans Knoll, and together they toured America, learning the market and the needs of interior architects. The first Knoll catalogue would feature 15 pieces by Risom.
This 1960s chair and exemplifies how the confident aesthetic of mid-century America was largely Danish by design. The frames are crafted in teak with their original polished finish. They are solidly constructed, showing only minor knocks and light scratches consistent with their age.
The upholstery is a light steel blue, fully refurbished, and in excellent condition.
Each chair is priced at £400, but a discount is available if you wish to purchase both.
Delivery can be arranged upon request.
