Conny Walther Hand-built Vase & Pot
A pair of hand-built stoneware vessels by Danish ceramicist Conny Walther. The pair comprises two contrasting forms: a squat, wide-bodied vase with a short neck, and a small rounded pot. Both are finished with richly textured surfaces, combining areas of exposed stoneware with iron oxide decoration and expressive iron-rich glazes that pool across the front face.
Conny Walther (1931–2021) established her own studio in Birkerød after training at Saxbo and Kähler, becoming one of the leading figures in Danish studio ceramics from the 1960s onwards. Her work is known for tactile surfaces, expressive glazing and an emphasis on the character of the clay itself.
Denmark c.1960s–70s
